Provo Canyon School Registration and Admission ADMISSION PROCESS
The requirements for admission at Provo Canyon School are as follows. The students should not be more than 17 years of age, apart from this condition:
- Does the children's problems include drug abuse, depression, anger, low self-esteem, poor judgment skills, low tolerance frustration and poor decision-making? These come under emotional and behavioral problems.
- Does the child have problems at home? These include difficulty in communicating, running away from home, no respect or lack of respect for others in the family, physically and verbally aggressive, extremely introvert and no emotional bonds within the family.
- Does your child have problems in the their social life and in their community? These problems can include violence at school, stealing, participating in illegal activities, vandalism, poor or no social relations and sexual promiscuity.
- Does your child have learning and academic difficulties? Offending and disturbing behavior in the classroom, mild or extreme learning disabilities, and inability to remember lessons at school can be few of the problems.
The committee that decides admissions reviews the student's academic and medical information.
On what grounds can Provo Canyon School reject a student?
- A severe psychiatric disorder requiring hospitalization of the child.
- A serious brain injury that has resulted in any impairment.
- In case of pregnancy.
- Severe forms of social disorder.
- A history of violent behavior of the student, which may prove a hurdle to the child due to the group environment of the school
- Physical handicaps that can prevent the child from active participation in school programs.
- The child has an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) that is below 80.
- Epilepsy and hemophilia, a severe case of diabetes, food allergies that require special diets, that disables student participation.
If the child is found unsuitable for admission at Provo Canyon School, then the admission committee will try suggesting other options. |
